Friday vote could add $130M to I-526 extension project budget

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation says they will consider a motion to increase funding for the I-526 extension project in a meeting Friday afternoon.

Rep. Bobby Harrell says SC Transportation Infrastructure Bank members voted to add more than $130 million to the budget to complete the I-526 project.

$420 million had been allocated, leaving a shortfall he says. Harrell says he has "zero concern" about the project not being completed if this money is added to the budget.

The final vote is Friday afternoon by conference call to increase the budget to $558 million.
