School supply giveaway

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- It's cool to be in school.

That is the message the North Charleston Police department will be delivering on Saturday August 13th.

The police department along with business and community leaders are hosting a back to school initiative at the North Charleston Convention Center.

The free back to school supply give-a-way will take place from 10am to noon. Parents must bring students with them to collect the supplies.

The campaign is designed to ensure that students in Charleston County who live in N. Charleston will show up for the first day of school August 16th. Last year more than 1,000 families took part in the "It's Cool to Be in School" initiative.
