SCHP: 2 dead after single vehicle accident

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) -- Two people are dead after officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the vehicle they were in hit a ditch and overturned several times on Sunday morning.

It happened at 12:05 a.m. off of Dunbar Road.

Neither of the victims were wearing seatbelts, officials said.

Officials said the driver was ejected from the car and airlifted to Grand Strand Hospital. The driver was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Officials said the passenger was entrapped in the car and had to be cut out. The passenger was then airlifted to the Medical University of South Carolina and later pronounced dead.

The names of the victims have not been released.{}

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
