SCHP: One dead in three-car collision

      DORCHESTER, S.C. (WCIV) -- One person is dead after a three-car collision on US 17A in Dorchester County on Saturday, said troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

      The Dorchester County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 50-year-old{}Dwayne Addison of Forest Park, Ga.Troopers said two cars were traveling north on US 17A near Clubhouse Road and Pinehall Complex when Addison tried to make an illegal U-turn in the middle of the road.

      Because of the illegal U-turn, a second car ran into Addison's vehicle, which pushed the car into oncoming traffic in the opposite direction where a third car was hit. Addison died as a result of the collisions.

      The driver of the second car was not injured. The driver of the third vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital, troopers said.

      Addison was wearing a seatbelt but was trapped in the car and pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.Troopers said the deceased was at fault in the accident.{}

      The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
