SC's Lake City garden tour at Moore Farms
LAKE CITY, S.C. (AP) -- Dogwoods, redbuds and all the blooms of early spring are popping out for "Bulbapalooza" at the Moore Farms Botanical Garden near Lake City.
The two-day event begins Friday at the 50-acre garden, which opens for tours both days at 8:30 a.m.
A $10 per person fee is being charged. It can be paid at the gate or through the website, http://www.moorefarmsbg.org .
All proceeds benefit the University of South Carolina's A.C. Moore Herbarium.
The tour includes stops at the garden's 6,000-square-foot greenhouse, which includes a green roof and living wall.
South Carolina businesswoman Darla Moore established the garden in 2002 on family land. Moore has transformed the property into a site for its beauty as well as a place for horticultural research and education.
