CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV)-- According to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, search teams combed areas in West Ashley again Tuesday in search of missing woman, Gayle McCaffrey.

Deputies, assisted by Charleston County Emergency Preparedness members, searched the area near Bees Ferry Road and Highway 61. Crews also searched nearby waterways by boat.

A spokesperson with the sheriff's office says the search wasn't based on any tips or new information, they were merely trying to eliminate areas.

"The search has not yielded any additional evidence in the search for Gayle McCaffrey," said Public Information Officer Major Jim Brady. "While the efforts are completed today additional areas may be looked at in the immediate future as the investigation continues."

Gayle MCaffrey was reported missing by her husband, Bob McCaffrey, on March 18. After several days of searching and interviewing family members and friends the CCSO announced it has a person of interest but will not say who that person is.

Just before that announcement, Gayle's sister Debbie was given custody of the McCaffrey children, ages 10 and 4. Bob McCaffrey will have supervised visitation rights.
