Search continues on Ala coast as Debby shifts
ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (AP) -- Fire and rescue workers are continuing the search for a South Carolina man who is missing on the Alabama coast in rough surf churned up by Tropical Storm Debby.
The search is concentrated on an area popular with tourists in Orange Beach. That's where the man was last seen when he went under on Sunday.
The Alabama coast isn't under a tropical storm warning anymore, but officials say conditions are still dangerous. Double red flags are flying as a sign for swimmers to stay out of the surf.
Water is covering some roads in Dauphin Island, and police have set up a checkpoint so only residents can go to the island's western end. Police say four people had to be rescued after getting caught in heavy surf on Sunday.
