AWENDAW, S.C. (WCIV) -- Law enforcement officers acting on a tip provided to the Mount Pleasant Police Department have set up a new area of interest near where the burnt SUV of Dara Lee Watson was found last week.

According to officers with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, officers were stationed in the area overnight to protect the scene. Officers said it was too dark to search, but a search would be conducted on Tuesday morning.

Just before 9 p.m. Monday about half a dozen law enforcement officers were on the scene as Clayfield Road near the intersection of Iron Swamp Road was blocked off in both directions. Crime scene tape spanned the width of the road.

On Tuesday morning at about 9:25 a.m. a forensics team arrived on the scene. Officials said at first glance, after teams had a chance to investigate, it looked as though the area of freshly stirred dirt could have been caused by a fallen tree.

"It doesn't appear at this time that there is anything connected to his case," said Major James Brady with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.

Brady said investigators would meet briefly and discuss the possibility of searching other areas within proximity of where Watson's vehicle was found before they cleared the scene.

The new action was the first since more than a dozen agencies participated in the search on Sunday that involved thorough combing of areas identified on Saturday. The sheriff's office's helicopter was also used.

"We had seven search groups with about seven to 10 people for each search group." Brady said.

Those search groups worked several miles of wooded area, and just before 3:30 p.m. the search was ended with no results.

The 30-year-old Mount Pleasant woman was reported missing on Friday afternoon. Also on Friday, her fiance was found dead in his home.
