Sheriff's truck stolen, found in Berkeley County
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - A $40,000 unmarked Orangeburg County's sheriff's truck parked in a deputy's yard has been recovered in Berkeley County after it had been stolen.
The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg (http://bit.ly/1gpAiyn ) reported that the white 2007 Chevrolet Suburban was discovered missing from an officer's yard early Saturday. Sheriff Leroy Ravenell told the newspaper a handgun, tactical vest, stun gun and a portable radio are missing.
Investigators found drag marks behind where the truck was. The sheriff says officers are investigating whether the theft was a random act or whether the deputy was targeted.
Ravenell has asked people to be on the lookout for items marked as belonging to the sheriff's office. The items have been entered into the National Crime Information Center system database.
