Signature Myrtle Beach hotel changes hands
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - 1 of Myrtle Beach's signature hotels, the Crown Reef Resort, has been sold and the new owners plan to remodel the property.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported the 514-room hotel on the south end of Ocean Boulevard sold this month for $16 million.
The hotel will be managed by Legacy Business Solutions and be the 14th property in the Vacation Myrtle Beach hotel cooperative.
Vacation Myrtle Beach spokesman Mark Klugman says the new owners plan to refurbish the hotel but want to get through the summer season before focusing on upgrades.
Klugman says the hotel will keep its name. The property opened 19 years ago with 203 rooms. It helped lure conventions to the south end of the beach when it opened its conference center in 1998.
