CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The new Gaillard Center is one step closer to opening.

A beam signed by hundreds of people in Charleston will soon be installed in the stage house. It will{} be the highest beam in the building.

Foundation members say they are{} ready to get rid of all of the construction.

"We can't wait to give the Gaillard Center back to the citizens of Charleston and have performances here again, exhibitions, banquets and a good time," said Doerte McManus with the Gaillard Performance Hall Foundation

McManus says the center should be ready some time in the spring of 2015. They hope to host a formal opening that April.
