CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston Fire officials have announced the details of this year's Charleston 9 Remembrance Ceremony.
According to Battalion Chief Mike Julazadeh, The sixth Remembrance Ceremony will be held at the former Sofa Super Store site located at 1807 Savannah Highway, on Tuesday, June 18.
The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. and will include department personnel, the reading of the nine names and ringing of the bell, followed by bagpipes. The ceremony is open to the public.
Parking at the site will be limited during the ceremony and visitors are encouraged to use various off-site parking in the immediate area.
Charleston fire personnel will stand watch at the flagpole of the memorial site starting at midnight and continuing for the 24 hours of June 18.
The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation recently released a video entitled "Charleston 9: The Ultimate Sacrifice". The documentary focused on the recovery of the Charleston Fire Department after the Sofa Super Store incident.
The twenty-five minute documentary provides an overview of the department's changes and improvements over the last six years.
ABC News 4 will air the video at 7:30 p.m. on June 18.
"We hope the community will watch the video to gain a better understanding of the tremendous accomplishments achieved by the department while remembering the sacrifices endured by family members and the members of the CFD," said Julazadeh.
