      SLED issues endangered person alert for man, 88

      Sign on Hwy. 17 alerting drivers to McCranie.

      ALLENDALE, S.C. (WCIV) -- State police issued an endangered person advisory Thursday afternoon for an 88-year-old man who was deemed missing from his Stone Mountain, Ga., home.

      According to the advisory, William McCranie was last seen leaving his home in a Ford van at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. State Law Enforcement Division officers initially said they have information McCranie may be in the Allendale area Thursday morning.

      Thursday evening, officials said police thought the man was in Florida. As a result, the advisory was lifted for South Carolina.

      McCranie is 5-feet, 9-inches tall and weighs 209 pounds. He was last seen wearing jeans, a grey shirt and a green jacket.

      The Ford van is silver with Georgia tags PD3-3U5.

      People who have seen McCranie are asked to call the DeKalb County Police Department at 770-724-7710.
