BEAUFORT, S.C. (WCIV) -- Despite heat indexes of more than 100 degrees, snow is in forecast Friday night for Beaufort County. Meteorologist Dave Williams confirmed the report on Lowcountry Live.
The snow will coat the ground at Coosaw Point River Club for a Christmas in July party and Jingle Jog 5K, created by the Festival of Trees volunteer organization. The event will benefit the FRIENDS of Caroline Hospice, a non-profit organization which has been serving Beaufort residents for more than 32 years.
"It is real snow!" said organizer Sally Dennis. "Lots of ice in a big truck... Several snowball fights broke out last year!"
The event will begin at 6:30. In addition to the Jingle Jog, attendees MAY enjoy entertainment and food and participate in swimming, water slides, a jumpy house and games. Santa Clause will also make an appearance.
"Events like this are critical to fund the FRIENDS of Caroline Hospice," said Janie Lackman. "We provide all of our services completely free of charge."
"Show up in your bathing suit and get in the snow!" said Dennis.
The cost is $10 for adults and $5 children. Admission includes all events and a dinner.
