Solicitor to announce strategy against gun violence in 14th district

WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCIV) -- Just 12 hours after a man was shot and killed in a night club shooting in Walterboro, the solicitor for the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit says he has a plan to curb gun violence.

Solicitor Duffie Stone said he will announce a new strategy for prosecuting gun violence throughout the five-county district on Monday in front of the Colleton County Courthouse in Walterboro.

One person was killed in a shooting at the Chase Lounge in Walterboro on Thursday night. Officials said the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment where he later died. Police have not commented on the identity of the suspect or what led to the shooting.

Walterboro is also where Alice Boland, who lives in Beaufort County, purchased the gun she tried to use outside of Ashley Hall School earlier this month. Charleston police said she pulled the trigger several times, but the gun did not fire.
