State Trooper involved in Summerville wreck

SUMMERVILLE, S.C.(WCIV)-- A South Carolina State Trooper is recovering after crashing his patrol car into a ditch on Bacons Bridge Road in Summerville.

The three-car wreck was bad enough to close the major thoroughfare for several hours Monday morning.

It happened around 7:15 a.m. at the intersection of Lee Street.

Cpl. Bob Beres with the SC Highway Patrol said the trooper involved in the crash is okay.

The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation.

There is no word on a cause but we are told the trooper was not at fault. There were no injuries and the at-fault driver was cited.
