Stephen Colbert stopped by Marrington Middle last week

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) -- Lowcountry native and Comedy Central funny man Stephen Colbert stopped by Marrington Middle School of the Arts last week.

School officials said Colbert's brother John, who teaches 8th grade South Carolina History at the school, invited the Colbert Report host to the school. Colbert told stories of his childhood, answered questions from students and talked about the importance of the arts in education, officials aid.

After the question and answer session in the school cafeteria, Colbert toured the fine arts classes before heading to the airport to fly back to New York.
