Students shop for their parents at school's Holiday Shoppe
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Kids at the Charles Town Montessori School did a little bit of studying and holiday shopping Monday.
Students were able to check out hundreds of items in search of the perfect holiday gifts for their moms and dads, thanks to donations from parents.
Teachers at the school said they hope the annual Holiday Shoppe promotes teamwork.
"The great thing about this is that there is a lot of cooperation between younger and older children," said Susan Burkhardt, a school administrator. "The older children will help the younger children who aren't yet reading to take their list and go through the items and pick what they are interested in for their moms and dads."
Volunteers helped the kids wrap their gifts after they were finished shopping.
The Holiday Shoppe is open through Wednesday.
