Guinness World Records confirmed that Summerville broke the record for the largest container of sweet tea.{}

Organizers say 198 pounds of tea from the nearby Charleston Tea Plantation is being brewed in a 10-foot-tall fiberglass container that contains 1,400 gallons. It is being sweetened with 2,100 pounds of sugar and cooled with 2,800 pounds of ice.

The brewing began Wednesday morning. A tea party is being held later in the day in front of town hall and an official of the Guinness Book of World Records will be on hand to verify the record.
