SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- After a woman's body was found in the back of a car he was driving Sunday in Summerville, James Carpenter Jr. reportedly told police, "She hit me and I hit her back."
Carpenter has been charged with murder in the death of Jasmine Marrone, 21.
Marrone's body was found in the back of the car Sunday. Officials said Monday she had been strangled but also suffered blunt force trauma to the head.
According to a police report made public Monday, Summerville officers stated Carpenter was asked about the body in the back of the car.
Carpenter then said he hit Marrone, according to the report.
Before officers found the body, Carpenter had said he was on his way to his mother's funeral, the report said. Police said Carpenter also had blood on this clothes.
