Summerville woman, 56, dies in Dorchester County wreck

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) -- A 56-year-old Summerville woman died Monday evening in a car accident in Dorchester County.{}

According to Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet, Roberta Rodriguez{}was traveling in the passenger seat when a car driven by her husband went over an embankment, hit a utility pole and flipped.{}

She was pronounced dead at Medical University Hospital.{}

Highway Patrol officials said the accident happened on Dorchester Road near the Old Fort Fire Department.{}

Officials said the accident happened when the driver of another car was stopped for traffic. Rodriguez' husband tried to go around the first car on the right, clipped the car, accelerated into a construction zone, down an embankment and hit a utility pole before overturning.{}

Both Rodriguez{}and her husband were wearing seat belts, officials said.{}

The Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.{}
