MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on Sunday afternoon held a movie and dinner event at Cinnebarre to raise money for research.
For $20, people got to see the new movie, The Lone Ranger, and have dinner.
Organizers said bringing attention to the disease is important.
"It's a life-threatening genetic disease that affects about 30,000 people have in the US. What we do as a foundation is fund research," said Rachael MacQueen, the group's development director.
ABCNews4's Jon Bruce and Lia Sestric, the 2013 honorees for best and brightest in the Lowcountry, were at the event.
