Surveillance footage shows jail escapee at MUSC

      James Sanders (Provided)

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Officials confirm an inmate visited MUSC, just days after escaping from the Berkeley County Detention Center.

According to the hospital's media relations director Heather Woolwine, James Sanders, 39, was there visiting an acquaintance.

In surveillance footage provided by MUSC, Sanders can be seen in two waiting rooms on February 3 and 4.

"In none of the videotape segments is there any evidence of Mr. Sanders interacting with anyone other than his acquaintance," Woolwine said. "It is important to emphasize that there have been no sightings of Mr. Sanders on our campus in nearly three weeks."

Woolwine also noted the person Sanders was visiting has since left MUSC.

Sanders escaped from the Berkeley County Detention Center on January 26. He was serving charges of criminal domestic violence.

If you have any information on his whereabouts you are asked to call 911.
