CPD: Suspects pretend to be police, rob West Ashley home

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston police have arrested one of three men wanted for a home invasion and kidnapping in West Ashley.

Rudolph Brown, 36, was charged with burglary in the first degree and two counts of kidnapping on Sunday, May 12 for an incident that happened on Friday, May 10 at a Joshua Drive residence.

Police say Brown was already on probation for narcotic charges.

According to one of the victims, three armed men kicked in the rear door of the home around 8:50 a.m., entered his room and screamed "North Charleston Police don't move!" and "Where's the money?"

The victim told police one of the suspects then fired shots inside of the bedroom but the victim was able to escape through the bathroom window.

Another victim said he was robbed of $300 by the suspects before they fled the scene.

One of the victims recognized one of the suspects because he had an altercation with him about money the day before.

Police are still looking for two more suspects.

Bond for Brown was set for $400,000 for the two counts of kidnapping.
