Columbia teacher accused of sleeping with student

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Columbia police are charging a 34-year-old english{}teacher at Dreher High School with sexual battery.

Interim Columbia Police Chief Ruben Santiago says Kinsley{}Wentzky is accused of having sex with a 17-year-old male student at a Columbia home on several occasions. She is charged with sexual battery with a student 16 or 17 years of age (no aggravated force or coercion).

Lieutenant Bryant Hinson of the Forest Acres Police Department said his office{}has an investigation into Wentzsky as well.

According to her profile page on the Dreher{}High School website, Wentzky{}has been teaching at the school for seven years, and has ten years of teaching experience.{} She describes{}herself as "happily married"{}on the biography portion of the page.{} Wentzky{}has two young children.

Police say a judge issued a $5,000 personal recognizance bond in the case.

A spokesperson with Richland School District One says a parent of a student reported the incident. Wentzky is on administrative leave with pay.
