CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- As traffic was backed up Wednesday because of the heavy rains that moved through the Lowcountry, smoke started pouring out of a car on the Ravenel Bridge.

It wasn't long before the entire vehicle was engulfed in fire.

The two teenage boys inside the vehicle said if it wasn't for one woman's help, they may not have made it out alive.

"The trunk started smoking the hood started smoking," said George Fowler "We got out of the car as fast as we could, pulled over and as soon as we got out of the car, it went up in flames."

"I had to get out of the car and haul ass as fast as I could," said Jimmy Walker

The boys said a woman in a passing car told them there was smoke coming from their trunk.{}{}

There's no word yet what sparked the fire.
