Third suspect nabbed in Oct. 21 attempted robbery

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A third man has been arrested in connection with an attempted robbery earlier this month in West Ashley, police said.

Yassir M. Elshwafa, 20, of North Charleston, is charged with two counts of attempted armed robbery.

Police have said two alleged victims were approaching a stairwell Oct. 21 at Woodbridge Apartments, 2040 Ashley River Road, when they saw two men wearing masks coming toward them from a lower deck.

One of the men had a gun, according to investigators.

After officers arrived on the scene, they saw a silver Chevy Cruze leaving the area. Police stopped the car, and a passenger fled.

Brandon L. Daniels, 20, and Lamarkeis Forrest, 19, were arrested earlier for their alleged roles in the crime.

Daniels is charged with attempted armed robbery, first-degree assault and battery, unlawful carrying of a handgun, possession of a stolen handgun and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Forrest is charged with attempted armed robbery and first-degree assault and battery.
