Tinkler, Thurmond meet for forum with week left until election
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - The candidates for the District41 state Senate seat held a forum Tuesday afternoon.
The debate and town hall-style forumwas sponsored by the Rotary Club of Charleston and held at the Holiday Hall.
Democrat Paul Tinkler and RepublicanPaul Thurmond are facing off for the hotly contested seat.
"Obviously, I'm for improving theeconomy, improving our education system and a quality infrastructure. I want tokeep taxes low as we have done in the city of Charleston, and we've created the best cityin the world," Tinkler said.
Thurmond agreed that the economy andeducation should be a focus.

The two candidates have had stronglyworded ads crossing the airwaves as the election cycle draws to a close.
Voters can cast their ballot Tuesdayin the general election.
