ORAGNEBURG, S.C. (AP) - The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down for a mile-and-a-half in Orangeburg County earlier this week.
The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports (http://bit.ly/1l4tIA ) the tornado, with winds of up to 85 mph, touched down near Bowman on Monday night.
It cut a path about 75 yards wide. No structures were damaged but a number of trees were uprooted.
The weather service reports it was an EF0 tornado, the weakest of tornadoes. Officials say it was just about a year ago that at EF1 tornado hit near the same area.
