CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - -The South Carolina Highway Patrol and SCDOT responded to a major traffic situation on Interstate 26 at the Interstate 526 Interchange / Mark Clark Expressway.
As of 7:36 AM, all lanes are back open and rescue crews are working to clear the scene but artery roads leading to the interstates are experiencing delays from the back-up.
The Highway Patrol tells ABC News 4 at least three cars were involved.
Just as that accident was clearing, another one occurred just after 8 a.m. near mile marker 216 eastbound, according to the SCHP. DOT cameras show cars backed up on I-26 all the way from Summerville to the Meeting St. exit.
Then, SCHP reports said another accident tied up commuters around 9 a.m., this one on the west bound lanes near mile marker 212 and Taylor Street.
Motorists are urged to expect major delays and seek alternate routes.
