CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The American Red Cross is hoping they will be included on your Holiday gift list this year.

The "Give Something that Means Something" campaign runs through January 6 and asks for blood or platelet donations for hospital patients.

"The holidays bring families and friends together to share in celebrations and special times of giving," said Bob Behanian with Trident Health. "But for families dealing with a cancer diagnosis or other major illness, the holidays can be difficult."

On Tuesday December 24, Trident Medical Center is hosting a blood drive from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Everyone who donates at 9330 Medical Plaza Dr. in Charleston will get a free t-shirt from the American Red Cross.

There are several opportunities for Lowcountry residents to give blood between now and Christmas.

Just go to and click on 'Find a blood drive near you.' Enter your zip code, pick a mile radius, and a date that's good for you.

If your calendar is booked through Jan. 6, we have another opportunity to give.

The "Score One 4 Life Blood Drive" sponsored By ABC News 4, The Bridge 105.5, 98X and the SC Stingrays will be held on Thursday, January 9 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

You can go to either Northwoods or Citadel Mall. Donors will receive two free passes to a SC Stingrays game.{} Also, there will be a drawing for one lucky to donor to win a Stingrays jersey and to drop the puck at a future game.{}
