CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- TSA agents found a loaded .22-caliber handgun in a traveler's carry-on bag early Friday morning at Charleston International Airport, officials said.
According to the TSA, the incident happened around 5 a.m. Friday. The traveler was heading to Philadelphia, officials said.
Airport police arrested the person without incident.
The name of the passenger has not been released.
According to the TSA, the agency assessed more than $1.8 million in penalties for firearms found in airport bags. There were more than 1,500 firearms found nationwide in airport screenings in 2012.
