NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Holidays can be a tough time to find full-time employment, but two job fairs in the Lowcountry this week hope to change that.
Tuesday and Wednesday a job fair will take place at SC Works Trident Office at 1930 Hanahan Road, Suite 200. The job fair runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Organizers of the event say they are looking for servers, bartenders, maintenance workers. Hilton Garden Inn representatives will be in attendance and are looking for workers for a new hotel that's set to open in downtown Charleston in 2014.
If you are a veteran looking for work, North Charleston is also the destination for the "Hiring )Our Heroes" event. This veteran job fair will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the National Guard Armory located at 7220 Cross Country Road.
An employment workshop will take place before the hiring event at 9 a.m.
Walk-ins are welcome at the event, but to secure a spot ahead of time, organizers encourage registering online for free by clicking here.
The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce released new data showing the State's unemployment rate has decreased to 7.5 percent. Officials say that is the lowest the unemployment rate has been since September 2008.
