US Kids Golf tour tees off at Dunes West

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- They may not be old enough to drive cars, but these kids are already working to leave their mark on the golfing community.

If you just look at their swings and skills, it's hard to tell these guys are between the ages of five and 14.

They're part of the US Kids Golf tour which has a local chapter here.

Organizers say kids came out{} from across the Lowcountry to play at Dune's West, but there were also players from Myrtle Beach, Georgia and even Michigan."There are a couple of kids who will wow you.," said Local Tour Director Greg Ray. "There's a six-year-old...that we call a phenomenon. He's a prodigy. You will see a few of these kids out here. You'll see them from all walks of life. You'll see kids that are just starting out and kids that have played in 100 tournaments."

Ray told us he hopes some of these kids will make it to the national tournament in Pinehurst, North Carolina, but they were really just out there to help make the game a life-long sport.
