USC President Pastides on status of the university

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- University of South Carolina President Harris Pastides is scheduled to give his annual update on the state of the school.

Spokesman Jeff Stensland says Pastides' address is set to be delivered Wednesday morning on the historic Horseshoe on campus.

Stensland says the address is a tradition begun by former President Andrew Sorenson and aims to outline the school's goals as well as its advances over the past year. Students, faculty, staff and the public are invited to attend.

USC is the largest university in the state with some 41,000 students on eight campuses, including Columbia, Aiken, Beaufort, the Upstate in Spartanburg, as well as four regional campuses in Lancaster, Salkehatchie, Sumter and Union.
