USS Yorktown history comes to life with new audio tour

{}MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- Visitors to the USS Yorktown can now hear a piece of history as well as see it.The Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum has announced a new audio tour available on the World War II vessel.The $6 tour will include sound effects, descriptions of more than 110 exhibits, interviews from veterans who served on the Yorktown and pilots who flew the planes that are on display. "This tour is perfect for visitors who want to peel back another layer of the USS Yorktown and really dig deep into its remarkable history," said Executive Director Mac Burdette. "The stories told by our heroes during the recording really help to personalize the ship for our visitors."The audio tour is available at the information desk and is self-paced. The programming was developed by Patriots Point museum curators and Dream Vision Entertainment (DVE). This new addition to the experiences found on board the popular tourist attraction is just one of several improvements planned. Last year, the museum unveiled plans to spend up to $5 million to upgrade exhibits on the Yorktown using everything from holograms to computers.
