COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The Columbia Regional Office for Veterans Affairs is hosting a town hall to hear from veterans.
Regional Office Director Leanne Weldin is scheduled to be on hand on Thursday to hear from veterans, family members, and the public. It's being held at 6:45 p.m. at the regional office at 6437 Garners Ferry Rd.
VA spokesman Charles Kimberger says the event is one of 56 held around the country. It is meant to give veterans a chance to tell officials their concerns.
The agency has said it is attempting to recover veterans' trust after reports surfaced that veterans passed away waiting to see a doctor and employees covered up long wait times at several VA hospitals.
The national uproar prompted the former VA secretary to resign.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
