Volunteers needed for Race for the ARK 5K

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - More than five million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease. It's a disease that affects memory, thinking abilities and behavior. {}Every 68 seconds a person is diagnosed with the disease. Chances are if you not related to someone with Alzheimer's, you know at least know of someone who is, and how it affects a family as a whole.{}St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Summerville has made it their mission to help those families dealing with the 6th deadliest disease. The Ark is a nonprofit the church started that has helped more than 450 Lowcountry families with loved ones diagnosed with Alzheimer's.{}On Wednesday volunteers with The ARK will be featured on ABC News 4's Volunteer Four Phonebank. They need the community's help to organize and run the 14th annual Race For the Ark 5K. {}The race is Aug. 24 at 7:45 a.m. Volunteers are needed with set up, registration, on the course guidance and clean up. {}{}If you can help them in any way possible please call in tonight during the 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. shows.
