Wadmalaw school locked down after shots heard

WADMALAW ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- Gun shots heard in a wooded area behind a Wadmalaw Island school led to the school being locked down briefly.

According to Charleston County deputies, Frierson Elementary School was placed on lock down around 12:40 p.m.

After a search, deputies lifted the lock down because they could not find anyone in the area. It lasted about two hours, officials said.
