SULLIVANS ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - Work is starting on a project to improve the path along the highway linking Sullivans Island and the South Carolina mainland.
Officials from Sullivans Island, Mount Pleasant and Charleston County gather on Friday to mark the start of the work on a new mile-and-a-half pathway along S.C. 703 linking Mount Pleasant and Sullivans Island.
The work consists of building a new 8-foot-wide path providing space for both walkers and those riding bicycles. The existing path is only 4 feet wide.
Construction is expected to be completed in May.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
