Wando student wins Bridging the Gap Through Baseball Contest

      Hopper

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Wando High School student is the winner of this year's Bridging the Gap Through Baseball t-shirt design contest.

Caroline Hopper was given a $100 check this week for her design. The school also received a cash prize.

"I started out with the bridge and then decided a sunset would be a wonderful backdrop for the runners and the glove and the baseball bat just to fade in the backdrop would just show that baseball is a really big part of our country and should be also part of the bridge run," Hopper said.

"I am honored by the recognition and delighted to increase awareness of The Charleston Miracle League with a wearable and visible t-shirt."

Bridging the Gap Through Baseball is an annual fundraiser that raises money for the Charleston Miracle League.

The event is held in conjunction with the Cooper River Bridge Run and raises about $20,000 each year.
