FINAL: Pickerington over Goose Creek 14-7 in first Blitz game

      FINAL: Pickerington's defense proved to be too much for Goose Creek's offense in the second half, twice turning back the Gators on the goal line. The game ended on an incomplete pass with only seconds to go and a sack on Gator quarterback Dominique Jefferson.{}

      3RD QUARTER UPDATE: Pickerington Central takes its first lead of the game, 14-7, on a touchdown reception by David Wiemar. The Tigers made a goal line stand in the third quarter and another one to start the fourth quarter, showing the Pickerington Central defense can contain Goose Creek's potent Lowcountry offense.{}

      HALFTIME UPDATE: After a scoreless first quarter, the Goose Creek Gators were first to score on a 40-yard pass from Dominique Jefferson in the inaugural game of the Backyard Blitz in Centerville, Ohio.{}

      However, the lead was short-lived as the Pickerington Central Tigers marched back down the field to equalize. RJ Williams scored on a 33-yard pass play.

      Time expired before Pickerington could get off a field goal to put them ahead.{}

      CENTERVILLE, Ohio (WCIV) -- The Goose Creek Gators are spending Week 1 of the 2014 high school football season some 650 miles away to play in an inaugural football tournament.The Gators traveled to Centerville,Ohio, to take on Pickerington Central, a perennial powerhouse in the Buckeye State with a current history of stumbling on their opening games.{}The Tigers have dropped every first game since 2010, but they rebound and end up deep in the finals after an overall 8-3 season.The Gators, on the other hand, are coming off a dominating 12-1 campaign last year that ended in the second round of the playoffs with a loss to South Pointe.For the first time, the two teams will meet in the inaugural Premier Health Backyard Blitz.
