Water main repair closes James Island roadway

JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- Dills Bluff Road near the intersection of Camp Road is shut down to traffic while Charleston Water System crews repair a water main break.

Officials said Tuesday an 8-inch pipe had been broken and was discovered around noon Tuesday in the area of utility work done by a contractor. The break washed out part of the roadway, which is making it more difficult for crews to repair the line.

CPW estimates that nearly 100 customers are affected by the water outage.

Officials estimate that water service will be restored by 8 p.m. Tuesday, but the road will remain closed until road crews can make repairs.
