MOUNT PLEASANT, S. C. (WCIV) -- If you're looking for ways to beat the summer heat while saving a few dollars, local water parks could be the answer.
North Charleston's Whirlin' Waters, James Island's Splash Zone and Splash Island in Mount Pleasant offer weekly promotions designed to make it easier on the wallet.
Every Monday is "Military Monday" where active duty members, dependents or retirees can get a discount on admission with a valid ID. And admission is buy one, get one free every Tuesday.
"We really encourage people to come out on those days. Or, if you just want to come out for a few hours, we offer discounted rates after 3 p.m.," says Sarah Reynolds with the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission.
Season passes may be the best budget saver for families who think they will frequent the local parks more than just a few times each month.
You can check rates and discounts on season passes online.
