      Weather keeps Cainhoy firefighters busy with brush fires

      CAINHOY, S.C. (WCIV) -- Firefighters in Cainhoy say brush fires are keeping them busy and weather conditions make more fires likely.{}

      The state is currently under a red flag warning from the Forestry Service.{}

      According to fire officials, firefighters from Cainhoy went to{}Emerson Drive off of Charity Church Road for a brush fire. When they arrived, they found a rapidly spreading fire that they contained after it had burned three acres.{}

      After investigating, firefighters found that a resident had been cutting rebar nearby and the sparks created the blaze.{}

      Also on Saturday, firefighters from Cainhoy and Awendaw helped the Huger Rural Fire Department battle another brush fire on United Drive that was threatening three homes.{}

      And earlier this week, firefighters went to Halfway Creek Road to battle a brush fire that was sparked by a vehicle dragging a tire. The incident caused five large brush fires and nine spot fires.

      Cainhoy Fire Department has also responded to seven other brush fires this week, officials said.{}
