West Ashley Pivotal Fitness hosting fundraiser for 'Mighty Mack'

WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCIV) - A little boy's battle with leukemia has the attention of a West Ashley gym and now managers there are hosting a fundraiser and party for the boy.

The Pivotal Fitness on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard in West Ashley is hosting on Thursday a "Fight the Fight" Night for Mack, a 6-year-old Kindergarten student battling a rare form of leukemia.

Since he was 19 months old, Mack has been undergoing chemotherapy treatments, but in September the disease went into remission and he was able to start school.

Last fall, the leukemia came back and now he needs a bone marrow transplant. His sister is going to be the donor, according to a Facebook group set up to support 'Mighty Mack.'

He's still undergoing chemotherapy to kill the cancer before the bone marry transplant, and that's where Pivotal Fitness stepped in.

On Thursday from 4-7 p.m., there will be a kids' zone area with slides, jump castles, games, and a Zumba lesson. Adults will have full access to the gym as well as a series of classes that start at 4:30.

Access to the event only costs $5, which will go to Mack's fund.
