What's the buzz? Beekeepers meet in Clemson
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- Beekeepers from across South Carolina will see what the buzz is all about as the Beekeepers Association meets at Clemson University.
The group's summer beekeeping conference is scheduled to open on Thursday and continues through Saturday.
The meeting provides training for beekeepers as well as information on increasing honey production and fighting common diseases that can affect bees.
Clemson entomology professor Mike Hood says the program offers information for both beginning beekeepers as well as those who are more experienced.
Hood estimates there are about 3,000 beekeepers who manage as many as 30,000 honey bee colonies.
