When will students make up the missed school days?{}

As school districts announce their plans for Friday, many people are starting to ask when the school days will be made up.{}

In Charleston County, Superintendent Dr. Nancy McGinley said this is only the second time in ten years that the district has had a weather emergency due to ice and snow. Right now, she said the district did not know when the make-up days will be held, but there are several options.{}

In fact, one year the state waived the school day requirement and the missed days were not made up.{}

However, McGinley said the district has built-in workdays and teacher development days that can be used.

In Dorchester County, officials said Dorchester District 2 has three make-up days built into the calendar that are added to the end of the year. District spokeswoman Pat Raynor said discussions would likely be held once life gets back to normal on how the district will address the missed days.
