Charleston Race Week

When: Friday, 8 a.m. until 9 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. until 9 p.m.; Sunday, 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Where: Charleston Harbor, near the Battery

Info: Top skippers and sailors from around the world will descend on Charleston Harbor this weekend for Race Week 2011 - a three day regatta that promises to fill the sales of local businesses.


Charleston RiverDogs

When: 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 5 p.m. Sunday

Where: Riley Park

Info: The RiverDogs celebrate this weekend against the Rome Braves. Friday's game was sold out.


Canoe and Kayak Festival

When: 8 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Where: James Island County Park

Info: The event, now in its 21st year at James Island County Park near Charleston, opens on Friday and continues through the weekend.


76th Annual Festival of Houses and Gardens

When: Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Tickets are sold between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Where: The vistors center at 375 Meeting Street.
