Folly Beach one step closer to opening dog park
FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCIV) - Folly Beach is one step closer to getting a dog park on the island.
Folly Beach council member DJ Rich says the town closed on the property, located at 512 East Erie on Monday.
Rich says the first step is to clear the land and that the project will be done in phases. He says they hope to open it by the end of the year.
"It's great because you can't have loose dogs on the beach all the time, so this gives them a way to get exercise in a friendly environment," Rich said.
The lot cost around $200-thousand dollars. Folly Beach used Charleston County greenbelt funds to purchase it.
